Pulton Cup - Wednesday 2nd July 2008 7pm.
This years Pulton Cup will be staged at Horsfall Track, Cemetary Road, Bradford.
The Prestigious Pulton Cup is the Bingley Harriers Club Track & Field Championships for all ages from 8 to Seniors. Medals and certificates are given to all age groups with the coverted Pulton Cup going to the overall winner (Certain rules apply (e.g. at least 3 in an age group etc.)
The event will be on the one night only and in the form of a Quadathlon with a Sprint (60m), Long Jump, Bullnose Javelin and Distance (Well, once round the Track!).
Work will have started at Beckfoot by the end of June so we have decided on Horsfall for this years event.
We would like to see as many as possible make the one off trip to Horsfall (about 20 mins from Baildon!) and give the event a boost. It also helps us see how the athletes are progressing and the opportunity to run on a Tartan track.

Bob Smith Handicap
The cool, sunny and above all dry weather was ideal for this years' Bob Smith Handicap. Although the boggy state of the lower part of the course was not so good.
Around 50 runners, juniors and seniors took part in the race. 25 seniors, 12 Under 14s and 8 Under 11s finished their respective courses.
Stephen Firth won the senior race in 37.44(27:54) closely followed by Alan Wright in 37.47(22:42). Paul Mitchel was the fastest, finishing 15th in 21:49 with a handicap of 19.20. Catherine Holden was 3rd in 37.55(27.55)
The Under 14 race was won by James Fady in 16:15(15:45) James Hall came in second in 16:47, with the fastest time of 12:12. Owen Whelan was third in 16.54(16:54).
Luca Zenti won the Under 11 race in 11.13, followed by Katy Boden in 11:26. Charlie Handby was third in 12:40.
Bob Dover made the presentations in the St Ives tearooms over tea and cakes etc. This was followed by the usual quibbles over handicaps and route finding among the seniors.
Overall a good evening; with hearty congratulations to all who took part and a big thank you to the organisers, officials and marshals

Junior Fell Championship 2008
Bingley Championship Anniversary Waltz 20th April 2008
Bingley Juniors were thin on the ground but still fleet of foot at the first of the English Championship races which started in the fields of a sunny but windy Newlands Valley once the Senior Anniversary Waltz was under way. Daniel Netherwood ran well in the U8’s dash round the field to finish in tenth place. James Hall and Joshua Netherwood (just turned 10) found the steep rough climb on the side of Cat Bells hard work but dug in to finish fifth and forty ninth in the U12’s. The joint U16/U18 race was a class affair with the cream of junior fell running and a double climb. Ben Marriott ran well to finish fourteenth in his first year in this age group. Full results at the Anniversary Waltz website.
